I haven’t had to use dpkg directly too much, but it’s a pretty handy utility from what I can see.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;Run the following command to create a text file that lists off line-by-line which applications are installed:&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;&lt;i&gt;dpkg —get-selections &gt; installed-software&lt;/i&gt;&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;And while I haven’t tried this yet, apparently this is what you would run to re-install all those applications (With defaults) on a new install:&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;&lt;i&gt;dpkg —set-selections &lt; installed-software&lt;/i&gt;&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;Stay tuned for more! I plan on re-documenting my virtual machine info to show, over stages, what software is installed.
